It didn’t take long for Krissy Scurfield to catch the eye in the English Premiership. The 21-year-old speedster recorded her first try in the professional competition with a scintillating length-of-the-field effort for Loughborough against Exeter on Sunday.
Scurfield was playing in just her second match after recovering from a serious internal injury while playing for Canada at the Paris Olympics. She will now switch her focus to the XV-a-side game ahead of next year’s World Cup which will be hosted by England.
It was fellow Canadian winger Sabrina Poulin who Scurfield outpaced on her solo run, though Poulin took home bragging rights with two tries in Exeter’s 40-19 win over the Lightning. Canada center Alex Tessier notched 15 points with a try and five conversions, while USA Eagles scored for each team with Hope Rogers touching down for Exeter and Kathryn Treder for Loughborough.
