Brazil Name Loaded Roster for Hong Kong Tour

Emiliano Caffera has named a 28-man roster to represent Brazil in November. As part of the annual November Internationals, Os Tupis will play two away test matches against Hong Kong. The roster contains 17 forwards and 11 backs.

Hong Kong and Brazil are both chasing spots at Rugby World Cup 2027. Hong Kong is Asia no 2 and Brazil is South America no 4. Hong Kong is positioned to qualify for Australia 2027 as Asia 1 while Brazil faces a longer pathway. Neither Hong Kong nor Brazil has previously qualified for a Men’s Rugby World Cup.

BRAZIL NAME LOADED ROSTER

Os Tupis will travel to Hong Kong on Saturday, October 02. The bulk of Head Coach Emiliano Caffera’s 28 players are Brazilian-based and played for Os Cobras in Super Rugby Americas 2024. Seven players play their rugby outside of Brazil.

Wilton Rebolo plays Major League Rugby (MLR) for Los Angeles. He has played in all three positions across the front-row for Brazil. Matheus Rocha is also a versatile front-rower. He plays for CDUL in Portugal. Fly half Moisés Duque also plays in Portugal.

Prop Leonel Moreno plays for Lazio in Italy while second-rower Matteo Dell’Acqua, who also plays in Italy, is back after missing the July Internationals. Prop Caique Silva Segura also returns after not featuring in the mid-year internationals.

The roster also contains a notable uncapped player in Théo Bastardie. The Frenchman plays in the elite; the Top 14 for Vannes. He qualifies for Brazil via a grandparent. Brazil have been interested in the 24-year-old for quite some time. Carlo Mignot, who is also French, is not available for the tour. Regular winger Ariel Rodrigues is out following his red card for stomping against Chile in the recent World Cup Qualifier.

QUOTE – LUCAS SPAGO

“We had a very fierce game against Hong Kong in the middle of the year and we lost in a detail. We have been training very hard now so that we can play at their home ground and come back with the win.”
