Chile and Argentina Crowned Kings and Queens of 2024 South American 7’s

Argentina are the 2024 Women’s Champions of the South American 7’s and Chile are the 2024 Men’s Champions. Las Yaguaretés defended their 2023 title by defeating Brazil in the Women’s Final. Chile’s Men also handed Brazil a Silver Finish as Los Cóndores 7’s were 19-5 winners in the Men’s Final in Lima, Peru.

 

ARGENTINA – WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS

Argentina won the Women’s Final 19-10 over Brazil. The memorable final followed an equally successful overall tournament. Las Yaguaretés defeated Venezuela (55-0), Colombia (24-5) and Paraguay (45-5) in the opening round and were 17-10 winners over Uruguay in the Semi Finals.

Argentina’s Semi Final win over Uruguay also saw Las Yaguaretés confirming their place in the World Rugby Challenge Series. This means that Argentina can qualify for the World Series Circuit. It also secured a spot for the junior team at the 2025 Pan American Youth Games in Asunción, Paraguay.

The prize for the winner of the Bronze Final was South America’s second spot at the Challenger Series. Colombia secured it by defeating Uruguay 17-12.

CHILE – MEN’S CHAMPIONS

Chile won the Cup Final convincingly. Diego Warnken scored the opening try and he also landed two conversions. Rafael dos Santos scored a first-half try which ended with Chile leading 12-5. Chile scored two second-half tries to claim the title.

Los Cóndores 7’s road to Gold in Lima started with a 64-0 win over Guatemala on Saturday. Chile’s dominant campaign also included wins over Peru (53-0) and Paraguay (34-0) followed by a 29-12 Semi Final win over Colombia.

The results see Chile qualifying for the World Rugby Challenger Series and securing a spot for the juniors at the 2025 Pan American Youth Games in Asunción, Paraguay. Brazil also qualified for the World Rugby Challenger Series.
