Ivo Dugonjic Named as New Peñarol Head Coach

Peñarol Rugby has a new Head Coach. Ivo Dugonjic has been named as the new Peñarol Head Coach, replacing former Puma Leonardo Senatore. Dugonjic makes the change to the Uruguayan Professional Rugby team from Los Teros 7’s.

A forthcoming announcement will confirmed the 2025 Peñarol staff in full. Leonardo Senatore decided not to continue on as Head Coach. He coached Peñarol to the Semi Finals of Super Rugby Americas 2024. He was an assistant coach under Rodolfo Ambrosio for Uruguay during the July Internationals.

The change at Peñarol also sees the appointment of Gabriel Puig as the new Head Coach of Los Teros 7’s. Puig will be in charge of Uruguay on the World Rugby Sevens circuit for the upcoming international season.

Puig is a former Uruguayan player as it Dugonjic who played wing and fullback for Uruguay. He will be assisted by Tomás Jolivet and Gastón Mieres who played at Rugby World Cups 2015, 2019 and 2023.
