Three re-sign, three retire from Chicago Hounds

Chicago have confirmed the re-signings Luke White, Bryce Campbell, and Noah Brown for the 2025 Major League Rugby season. The first renewals follow confirmation of three retirements. Ben Landry, Nick McCarthy, and Dave Kearney have all opted to call time on their rugby careers.

White, a regular starter at the back of the scrum, and midfielder Campbell are both USA internationals and will enter their third seasons with the Hounds. It will be the second MLR campaign for Brown, who impressed in his rookie year enough to earn selection on the Eagles tour to Europe next month.

Landry, McCarthy, and Kearney all depart after just one season with the Hounds. Kearney is the most experienced of the trio, having played for Ireland on 19 occasions between 2013 and 2019. The 35-year-old wing or fullback and spent well over a decade playing professionally for Leinster. Landry, 33, won 25 Eagles caps as an imposing lock or blindside flanker and also had a stint playing professional in England with Ealing Trailfinders.

McCarthy is just 29 but has opted to pursue other interests. He won 5 caps for the USA at scrumhalf in 2023 after departing Leinster, having previously represented Ireland at u20 level. While not retiring, halfback partner Luke Carty is also departing the Hounds for another MLR side yet to be revealed.

Meanwhile Chicago have shored up their coaching ticket with two senior assistant hires to support Chris Latham, their new Head Coach. Todd Dammers joins as a forwards and breakdown specialist. He has previously coached for premier Australian clubs Sydney University, GPS, and Souths, and also had a stint with Ricoh Black Rams in the Japan Top League. Once-capped Ireland center Noel Reid, who played for the Toronto Arrows in 2023, will oversee the backs.
