Hoiles and Dennis return to lead LA in 2025

Steve Hoiles and Dave Dennis are back in Major League Rugby. The duo will reunite with fellow ex-Wallabies forward Adam Freier at RFC Los Angeles in 2025. Hoiles has signed a two-year deal to become the club’s Head Coach and Director of Rugby, with Dennis his chief Assistant Coach.

Freier is RFC LA’s club president, having previously served as General Manager of the LA Giltinis. Hoiles was an Assistant Coach of the Giltinis in 2021 before taking over the lead role in 2022. Dennis was the Giltinis club captain during that time and assumed a player-coach role in his second season in LA. All three played professionally for the Waratahs and represented Australia at test level.

Since departing LA, Hoiles has been coaching Randwick in Sydney’s Shute Shield and was this year a joint-winner of the competition’s Coach of the Year. He takes over from Stephen Brett, who had been with the franchise since 2021 and followed the team during their relocation from Atlanta to LA in 2024.
