NOLA Gold Bring in Pumas Hooker from American Raptors

NOLA Gold have signed former Puma Diego Fortuny. The hooker joins the Louisiana team with immediate effect. The move comes following the American Raptors’ second campaign of Super Rugby Americas. Fortuny captained the side to a 6th position finish.

NOLA Gold will compete in this year’s MLR play-off’s. The team clinched their spot with a win over the Miami Sharks this past weekend.

The move marks a Major League Rugby (MLR) return for Fortuny. The 32-year-old played for the Houston SaberCats from 2020-2022. In addition to playing super Rugby Americas for the Raptor, Fortuny, also had a stint playing Super Rugby for Los Jaguares.

Fortuny made his test debut for Argentina in the 2018 Rugby Championship. He won his only cap against South Africa in Durban. He did so as Los Pumas’ replacement hooker for captain Agustín Creevy.
