Montpellier Sign Domingo Miotti on Two-Year Contract

Domingo Miotti has officially changed teams in France. The Argentine 28-year-old Puma has signed for Montpellier from Oyonnax. Montpellier confirmed the recruitment which is a two-year contract with the option of an additional year.  It comes with capped French fly half Louis Carbonel departing Montpellier for Stade Français.

From Tucumán in Argentina’s north, Miotti joined Oyonnax ahead of the recently completed Top 14 season. He was signed from the Glasgow Warriors. The move came after Miotti had previously signed an extension to remain in Scotland.

In the second of his two seasons at the Glasgow Warriors, Miotti played in the European Challenge Cup Final. The Glasgow Warriors were beaten by Toulon. Miotti played alongside fellow former Jaguar Sebastián Cancelliere and against another in Facundo Isa.

Miotti moved to Scotland from Australia. Prior to playing in the United Rugby Championship (URC) for Glasgow he played Super Rugby for Los Jaguares in 2019-2020 and the Western Force in 2021.

INTERNATIONAL HONORS

Argentina’s 2024 international season starts in 2024. Previous assistant coach Felipe Contepomi takes over from Michael Cheika as Head Coach. New fly half options will be considered. The number two option from Rugby World Cup 2023, Nicolás Sánchez, is now past 100 caps and is and 35-years-old.

Now aged 28, Miotti is a product of Argentina’s high performance system. His pathway to Los Pumas included playing for Argentina u20’s Los Pumas 7’s, and the Argentina XV. He made his test debut against Australia in the 2020 Rugby Championship. The teams competed to a 16-16 draw. He has three caps for Argentina.
