France hold off Eagles in Paris

Day Two of the HSBC Paris 7s offered little sympathy for the plight of North America’s representatives, both of whom suffered crushing defeats on Day One. The Eagles improved somewhat but were still decidedly second best to France, losing 24-12 before taking out their frustrations in a 33-12 win over their northern neighbors. For Canada it was their 9th consecutive loss after falling to Argentina earlier in the day by a convincing 28-7 score.

The Pumas also found difficulties with France, losing 26-14 as the home side swept the pool and moved into the Cup finals as legitimate challengers for the title. Brazil meanwhile lost by considerable margins but will take credit for making South Africa work hard and scoring once through André Nascimento. The took it one better against England with two tries, one for André Silva and the other to Lucas Muller.

Argentina will now be the only Americas representative in the Cup finals, with the other three all headed to the Bowl quarters. Fiji and South Africa look neck-and-neck as favorites once again, with New Zealand just avoiding another upset loss to Kenya by two points.

All matches will be streamed live by World Rugby.
