Argentina claim third straight Men’s title in Vancouver

Argentina are Vancouver Sevens Men’s Champions for a third straight year. A runaway win over New Zealand in the Cup Final secured result, which was also their third straight title on this year’s circuit. Los Pumas are now more than 20 points clear of the field on the overall standings.

After a perfect run through the pool stage, Argentina ran into stiff competition in the form of Samoa in the Quarter Final. They seemed to find another gear against the USA in the Semi Final, with Matías Osadczuk scoring a double before notching a hat-trick in the Cup Final.

The Eagles would finish in 4th place, running out of gas against France in the Bronze Final. Despite the Day Three disappointment, it was the best result of the season for the USA. They are currently in 8th spot on the log with the 7th-place French holding a six-point lead.

Canada endured a winless tournament on home soil, finishing at the bottom of the table for the third time this season. Remarkably their closest result was against Argentina in their first pool match. With 11 competitions points through four tournaments the Maple Leafs are in last place on the overall standings, though Spain hold just a two-point lead in 11th spot.
