Americas Rankings – April 24 2016

There have been changes to the Americas Rankings following international competition this weekend. The updated Americas Rankings – April 24 2016 see Brazil and Paraguay changing places while both Uruguay and Chile have made slight gains.

Uruguay edged slightly closer to Canada by rising from 63,23 points to a new ranking of 63,26. This came at the expense of Brazil who dropped from 50,41 to 50,38. Brazil, though, ought to be happy by rising to sixth in the Americas ahead of Paraguay. Os Tupis narrow loss in the rankings was smaller than that of Los Yakarés who were up against a team with a lower ranking than that of Uruguay.

The updated rankings sees Chile improving from 55,20 to a new ranking of 55.54 points. Paraguay, meanwhile, fall from 50,46 to 50,12 ranking points to now officially be seventh in the Americas. The new ranking means that for the first time in 2016 the top six in the Americas are the same six who took part in the Americas Rugby Championship.

In the Caribbean the ranking of both Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica remains unchanged. This is the case despite Trinidad and Tobago completing a win by more than the fifteen point threshold. For the same reason there is no change to the ranking of Guyana or Barbados.

Additional alterations may transpire next weekend. Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay will take to the field in round two of the South American A Championship. In the Caribbean Santo Domingo will be the setting for a match between Curaçao and Turks & Cocos. There match will be mark their debut since the Americas Rankings began in January.

Additional Rugby World Cup qualifying matches in the Caribbean will resume on May 07.
