Gigantic Yacare Display Surprises Peñarol

A gigantic display from Yacare saw the Paraguayan franchise defeating two-time former champions Peñarol by a record margin on Saturday. The 36-8 victory overtakes the 41-24 win last season to be the highest winning margin by Yacare against Peñarol. The win had a lot to do with Yacare’s forwards; they laid the foundations for a comprehensive win.

MATCH NOTES
  • Peñarol failed to score points beyond the 24th minute. The one Peñarol try gave the Uruguayans an 8-7 lead at that stage.
  • Peñarol lost Baltazar Amaya to injury before the 30 minute mark.
  • Julián Quetglas’s try on the half-hour mark put Yacare ahead. The team remained in front for the duration.
