NOTES
  • Selknam are on a four match winning-streak against Os Cobras.
  • Os Cobras need a win to get the weight off their shoulders of being winless this season. More importantly, however is the need to be truly competitive as Brazil and Chile prepare for RWC 2027 Qualifiers in July.
  • Selknam have home advantage and the added advantage of having had a bye last weekend.
  • Both teams are coming off losses against league leaders Los Pampas. Selknam were far more competitive.
  • Selknam are taking the opportunity to experiment in multiple positions. Examples include prop Salvador Lues starting at hooker for the first-time, and Nahuel DeBiassi in at tight head, Raimundo Martínez reverting to flanker, a new-look mid-field and scrum-half Benjamín Videla moving to the wing.
  • Emilio Shea will make his Selknam debut as a replacement.
  • Tomás Baguley earns his first start for Selknam. He is Chilean born but raised in Malaysia and South Africa.
  • Veteran Augusto Bohme is back from injury for the first time this season.
  • Os Cobras are without Brendan Alves. The front-rower was suspended following his red card last weekend.
  • Following his debut against Los Pampas, Argentine Tiago Oviedo, who is eligible for Brazil, has been called-up to start at fly half. Augusto Guillamondegui drops out while Lucas Tranquez will play fullback.
PREDICTION

The new home of Selknam, CAAR has been a fortress for the Chileans this season. Selknam have recorded two big wins over Argentine opposition and one narrow defeat, also against an Argentine opponent. Selknam showed a willingness to play open rugby and came away with plenty of impressive tries. Their Brazilian opponents will need to be sharp against the enterprising play-making and hard-running Chileans. Os Cobras are yet to register a win this season.  Selknam are favorites to win at home.
