For the first time ever teams based in Tucumán, Argentina and Montevideo, Uruguay will battle it out in professional rugby. Monday’s match sees Los Tarucas at home against Peñarol in Tucumán. The inaugural clash between the teams will be the final match of the first half of Super Rugby Americas 2025. It comes with both teams needing points as the race for the play-off’s is highly competitive this season.

For decades on end Tucumán has been a heartland for Argentine rugby. The opportunity of playing SRA has been a success so far with the team attracting supporters. Los Tarucas are 1-1 at home this season and need the win to remain within range of the Top 4. Los Tucumanos have had one bad match this season while Peñarol have had two. Their styles differ greatly as Los Tarucas love forward play while Peñarol thrive in the backs.  Peñarol are favorites to win in Tucumán.
