The USA’s advertised home match against the Netherlands is canceled. With the Netherlands having been eliminated from Rugby World Cup 2027 Qualifying, World Rugby decided that the Dutch will no longer tour with their place having been handed to Belgium.
The change means Belgium officially replace the Netherlands as the USA Eagles’ opposition on Saturday, July 5, at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. It will be the first of three home test matches for the USA Eagles in July and the first of two at the same venue.
Belgium remain in the hint to qualify for Rugby World Cup 2027. The Black Devils finished the Rugby Europe Qualifiers as Europe 5. This means they qualify for the global repechage tournament to determine the final competitor for Rugby World Cup 2027.
The Netherlands elimination sees them now missing out on facing the USA in July. What remains unconfirmed is the status of the Netherlands’ test match against Canada. The fixture was scheduled to be played on July 12, one week after the match against there Eagles in North Carolina.
