Selknam Fend Off Cobras, Thunder and Lightning

Selknam downed Os Cobras on Saturday in a second round match in Super Rugby Americas 2025. The 28-21 victory gave the Chileans their first win of the season and sees the Brazilian remaining side winless. The match was delayed due to thunder and lightning.

• Raimundo Martínez’ transition from flanker to hooker was a success; he scored the opening try. He did so by providing a support line for Juan Cruz Reyes who was put into space by Benjamín Videla.
• Os Cobras’ speciality was the lineout to maul. All three of Os Cobras’ tries were scored this way. Hookers Henrique Ferreira scored one and replacement Endy Willian Pinheiro claimed a double in the second half.
• Martín Sigren scored twice for Selknam. Both came after breaks up field from backs.
• Sigren’s match-winner came in the final minutes after Benjamín Videla made a break from a lineout.
• Selknam join Los Tarucas on 5 competition points. They are tied for second behind the unbeaten Peñarol.
• Os Cobras claimed a losing bonus point to register their first competition points for SRA 2025.
