The Super Rugby 2025 season opener was a slobberknocker. Played in Montevideo, Uruguay on Friday evening, Peñarol and Los Dogos put on a highly competitive contest which was decided in the final play. The match was a highly encouraging start to SRA 2025.

- The scores were 14-14 after 49 minutes. The lead then changed hands five times until the final whistle.
- Replacement hooker Joaquín Myszka scored from a lineout to maul for victory in the final play.
- Scrum-half Agustín Moyano continue to look like a Puma in Waiting; he scored two tries for Los Dogos.
- Baltazar Amaya was replaced in the 2nd minute by Manuel Cardoso Pinto.
- Peñarol’s goal-kickers accuracy was only 40%; two of Santiago Álvarez’s kicks were very wide of target.
- Peñarol’s scrum avoided penalties but was shoved backwards throughout the match.
- The Uruguayans claimed the bonus point win to sit on five points while Los Dogos claimed two due to scoring four tries, one less than Peñarol, and due to losing by a narrow margin.
