Tarucas Debut in Pre-Season Hit-Out against Super Rugby Americas Champs

The Americas’s newest professional rugby team has debuted. Los Tarucas took to the field in a pre-season hit-out against reigning Super Rugby Americas champions, Los Dogos. Los Tarucas represents Northwestern Argentina and is based in the rugby heartland of Tucumán.

The Tucumán-based side took-on the Córdoba-based Dogos in two matches. Los Dogos won 28-15 and 38-0. The fixtures gave the wider rosters of both game opportunities. There were also some invitational players involved.

Los Tarucas are coached by former Racing 92 and Pumas flanker Álvaro Galindo. He took over the team following success with Argentina u20s, Los Pumitas. The Tucumán franchise will debut on February 15 at home against Brazilian side Os Cobras. The Córdoba side will open their title defense against Peñarol in Montevideo, Uruguay on Friday, February 14.
