Bath have signed Santiago Carreras on a three-year-deal starting in mid 2025. It will see the Puma arriving for the 2025-2026 season after making the move from Argentina to Gloucester in late 2020. Bath will be Carreras’ third professional experience after he played Super Rugby for Los Jaguares in 2019-2020.
He arrived in England having been a winger for Argentina and a winger / fullback for Los Jaguares. His move to Bath comes with him having played both as well as fly half for Gloucester. The value of the player is such that he can slot in to the position to meet the needs of the team.
Carreras has made 77 appearances for Gloucester during his four seasons with the club. He was voted Gloucester Coaches’ Player of the 2022-23 season. At the time of his signing for Bath, Carreras has scored 256 points including 21 tries for Gloucester.
2019 was both Carreras’ rookie season as a professional and also as a Puma. He made his test debut against South Africa and earned a spot on the roster for the World Cup in Japan. Carreras became a starter for Argentina on the wing during the World Cup. He started at fullback in the historic win over New Zealand in 2020 and was fly half for the 2022 win over the All Blacks in Christchurch and the 2024 win in Wellington.
Carreras currently has 53 test caps to his name. Currently aged 26, he will make the move to Bath at the age of 27. Negro is a product of Córdoba Athletic; a traditional sports club from his home town of Córdoba.
