Resurgent Argentina Storm into Perth Semi Finals

Day Two of the Perth 7’s saw a resurgent Argentina storming into the Semi Finals. Los Pumas 7’s bounced back from a mixed opening day to go unbeaten on Day Two and, with it, book a spot in the final four. Argentina will take-on Spain in one Semi Final with hosts Australia facing South Africa in the other.

Argentina’s final pool match was a game of two halves. Argentina scored all 19 first-half points while South Africa scored all 17 in the second-half. Three Los Pumas 7’s players scored in the try zone: Matteo Graziano, Marcos Moneta and Matías Osadczuk.

Victory over South Africa set-up a Cup Quarter Final against Great Britain. The South Americans scored twice early on. Santiago Álvarez scored out wide while Moneta split the defense following a scrum. Harry Glover hit-back for Great Britain with two tries to set-up a 14-12 half-time lead.

Rookie Santino Zangara restored Argentina’s lead. His second-half try was the first of three for Argentina in the half. Osadczuk then scored his second of the day, doing so with a fabulous hand-off. Captain Santiago Mare fooled the defense with a dummy to end the scoring.
