Canada fired on all cylinders on Day Two of the Perth 7’s. The North Americans secured a place in the Semi Finals where they will take on hosts Australia. Canada ran rampant against Brazil to win their Quarter Final 27-5.
The Quarter Final victory saw Mahalia Robinson, Asia Hogan-Rochester, Olivia Apps, Florence Symonds and Carmen Izyk all scoring points. Brazil’s record-setting Thalia Costa scored Brazil’s only points in the contest. Costa also scored against Ireland; As Yaras crushed the Irish 26-5 earlier in the day.
The battle of North America, meanwhile, proved to be epic. Canada went on to win 21-7 with a final try coming at the end of the match. Piper Logan scored a double while Carissa Norsten entering the try zone ensured the result.
Australia’s road to the Semi Finals featured wins over France and Japan on Day Two. The other Semi Final will be between France and New Zealand.
Day Three will open with the 11th Place Final. It will be contested between Ireland and Spain. Fiji vs Great Britain will follow to determine who finishes in 9th Place and who finishes 10th. Brazil will take on China in the 7th Place Final while the USA face Japan in the 5th Place Final.
