Thalia Costa Makes Sevens History in Perth

Thalia Costa made history at the Perth 7’s. The 27-year-old Brazilian became her country’s first player to reach the mark of 100 tries on the World Rugby Sevens Circuit. Day one of the tournament in Western Australia saw Brazil facing New Zealand and Japan.

Costa entered the tournament on 98 tries for Brazil. On Day One she came away with three tries to go past the 100 try milestone and now have 101 tries. She scored one against New Zealand, in what was a 50-7 defeat, and two against Japan. Her tries against the Asians came early. Brazil went on to win 19-12.

Thalia Costa is a product of Delta Rugby in Piauí state in Northeastern Brazil. She and As Yaras will return to the field in Perth on Saturday. Kick-off for the next match will be at 4:30am (Brásilia). Brazil will be up against Ireland.
