Eagles boost new-look Anthem roster for 2025 MLR campaign

Anthem RC will have a considerably more experienced roster for their second Major League Rugby campaign. USA Rugby’s development outfit will feature seven fully capped Eagles this season with half-a-dozen new arrivers at Charlotte. The team announced a 38-man roster on Tuesday.

Bolstering the pack is ex-LA prop Alex Maughan, American Raptors second row Mikey Grandy, and last year’s Dallas Jackals captain Sam Golla. The backline welcomes first overall draft pick Erich Storti, dynamic Seawolves winger Conner Mooneyham, and long-time Free Jacks stalwart Mitch Wilson.

The roster shows significant turnover from last year’s inaugural campaign. Of the 41 players who took the field for Anthem in 2024, only 13 return. Only four players won’t be Eagles-eligible in 2025. Former Utah Warriors lock Puna Vuli returns to MLR after a two-year stint in Japan to join retained trio Declan Moore, Joe Apikotoa, and Cliven Loubser.

New Zealand international Alama Ieremia will again serve as Head Coach for the side. His new second-in-command will be Agustín Cavalieri, who heads up the forwards after leading Dallas to a stunning playoff upset of the Houston SaberCats this past July. Elvis Seveali’i and Neethling Gericke were both part of a rotating coaching ticket last season.
