Federico Lavanini to join Colomiers

Federico Lavanini will join his brother, Tomás Lavanini, in France. Rugby Rama report that Colomiers Rugby have approached the brother of the famous Puma and have tabled a two year deal from 2025-2027. This means that Argentine players in France continue to rise. Days after Matías Moroni arrived in Brive, a second man from Buenos Aires is set to also play in the Pro D2.

Tomás Lavanini is one the most capped Pumas. The 31-year-old has 91 test caps and may well play in a fourth Rugby World Cup in 2027. His brother, Federico Lavanini is 27-years-old and is uncapped. He is a second-rower standing at 200 cm tall and weighing 122 kg.

The Lavanini brothers are products of Hindú Club in the Don Torcuato district of Buenos Aires. Joaquín de la Vega Mendía is also formerly of Hindú. de la Vega and Federico Lavanini will reunite at Colomiers. The duo also played together for Los Pampas in Super Rugby Americas as well as for the Argentina XV in non-capped rugby internationals.

Federico Lavanini has prior experience playing abroad. He played for Colombian side Los Cafeteros Pro in Super Rugby Americas. The team reached the Semi Finals in 2022.
