Italian Head Coach Gonzalo Quesada has confirmed a roster to represent Italy in the 2025 Six Nations. The former Pumas fly half will hold a training camp beginning on Sunday, January 19. Italy will open their Six Nations 2025 campaign away against Scotland on February 01 in Edinburgh.
Quesada’s roster contains 30 players. They include seventeen forwards and thirteen backs. There are also four others included as invitational players for the camp.
Juan Ignacio Brex has been selected for another campaign. The former Argentina XV and Los Pumas 7’s player has amassed 41 caps since debuting for Italy in 2021 against France. The center from Club San Cirano in Buenos Aires captained Italy against New Zealand in November. He and Tommaso Menoncello are the only two specialist mid-fielders on the roster.
Returning players include tight head prop Giosuè Zilocchi and uncapped loose head prop Luca Rizzoli. Meanwhile, Mirco Spagnolo is unavailable due to suspension. The remaining change in the forwards sees Andrea Zambonin missing out due to injury.
Following his move from Gloucester to Vannes, Steven Varney returns. Tommaso Allan, who missed the November test matches against Georgia and New Zealand, returns as does winger Simone Gesi. His selection comes with Louis Lynagh ruled out due to injury. Paolo Odogwu is also unavailable.
Quesada’s invitational players are Matteo Canali, Tommaso Di Bartolomeo, Giulio Bertaccini, and Muhamed Hasa. Bertaccini, who plays for Valorugby Emilia, debuted for Italy against Georgia in November.
