Uruguay to face Argentina in preparation for RWC 2027 Qualifiers

Uruguay will take-on Los Pumas in Argentina in July. The fixture will be on the third weekend of the mid-year international window. It will be Argentina’s final home match with it coming after two home matches against England.

The venue for Argentina vs Uruguay is unconfirmed though ARN understands that the Estadio San Nicolás is a strong contender. The venue starts 25,000. It is located in San Nicolás de los Arroyos, one hour from Rosario.

Uruguay’s July Internationals are yet to be finalized. Los Teros played three home test matches in July 2024. The historic home series saw Uruguay hosting rugby powerhouses France, Argentina and Scotland. A repeated home series is unlikely to occur again for a very long time.

The July 2025 Internationals will be Los Teros only on-field preparation for the Rugby World Cup 2027 Qualifiers. Uruguay are to face Paraguay with the winner facing either Brazil or Chile in the South American Final. The winner will qualify for Australia 2027 as South America 1.

The opportunity of facing Argentina will provide Uruguay with a challenge equal to matches at the World Cup itself. Before facing Los Pumas in July, Los Teros are expected to play two home matches on the same days that Argentina faces England. Opponents from Europe such as Romania and Spain are possible.
