Rodrigo Isgró and Juan Cruz Mallía Shine for Harlequins and Toulouse

Rodrigo Isgró and Juan Cruz Mallía impressed this past weekend in Europe. The Pumas winger and fullback were try scorers for Harlequins and Toulouse respectively. Both teams enjoyed big wins as they continue strong starts to the season in the English Premiership and French Top 14.

Isgró scored his third try in two matches for the Harlequins. He backed-up his double on debut by scoring to close out the opening quarter against the Exeter Chiefs. He showed both pace and strength to get past two Exeter Chiefs’ defenders to score. The Harlequins were 36-19 winners on the road.

Juan Cruz Mallía scored a double for Toulouse against Toulon. He did so playing the match out of position at fly half. His first try saw Mallía coming in to assist his scrum-half; Antoine Dupont had joined a ruck. The ball came out for Mallía rio pick-up and cross.

Mallía’s second try was memorable. Following a scrum, Dupont ran the ball left. Mallía hit the line to receive a pass 42 meters out. he split the defense and sprinted his way over for a try. Toulouse produced an excellent performance, winning 57-5.

Could Mallía play fly half for Argentina against Italy in November? Tomás Albornoz is the only specialist fly half on the roster currently in camp together in Paris. Fullback options include uncapped players Benjamín Elizalde (Bristol Bears, GB-ENG) and Gerónimo Prisciantelli (Zebre, IT) as well as veteran winger Santiago Cordero (Connacht, IE) who started for Argentina at fullback against France and Uruguay in July.
