Australia will play host to Argentina twice in Rugby Championship 2025. The two test matches will be played in September on Australia’s east coast, Rugby Australia has confirmed. The matches are two of the Wallabies’ three home matches in Rugby Championship 2025. The other fixture will be against New Zealand in Perth on October 04, 2025.
The Wallabies have confirmed a total of six home test matches in 2025. The first, second and third fixtures will be against the British & Irish Lions. Australia will host the matches on July 19, July 26 and August 02 at Lang Park in Brisbane, the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne and Stadium Australia in Sydney.
Australia’s Rugby Championship 2025 fixtures will be home-and-away against New Zealand, home against Argentina and away against South Africa. The opening fixture will be in the tropics of North Queensland on September 06. The North Queensland Stadium in Townsville previously hosted the Wallabies vs Pumas in 2021.
The Wallabies and Los Pumas will travel south from Townsville to Sydney for the second test match. It will be played on September 13 at the Sydney Football Stadium in Sydney. The venue regularly plays host to test match rugby but the Wallabies last faced Argentina at the venue in 1995, winning 30-13.
Subsequent Wallabies vs Argentina matches in Sydney have taken place at other venues. Stadium Australia played host to Australia vs Argentina to open Rugby World Cup 2003. Western Sydney Stadium hosted Australia vs Argentina in 2020 and 2023.
In addition to facing the Wallabies at the Sydney Football Stadium in 1995, Los Pumas also played one match at the venue as part of Rugby World Cup 2003. Argentina were 50-3 winners over Romania with Juan Martín Hernández scoring two tries.
