Chile is locked and loaded for the November 2024 Internationals. The Pablo Lemoine coached Cóndores will play three matches in Europe in November. The first and second are capped internationals with the third being an uncapped fixture against the next-of-XV from a Tier 1 giant of rugby.
Chile start with a test match at the home of Romanian rugby in Bucharest. It will not be against Romania; rather, Chile face Canada at the Arcul de Triumf National Rugby Stadium on Saturday, November 09. Romania take-on Tonga later that day at the same venue.
Los Cóndores travel from Eastern Europe to Western Europe for their remaining tour matches. Chile face the Netherlands in Amsterdam on Saturday, November 16 and face Scotland ‘A’ in Edinburgh on Saturday, November 23.
CHILE ROSTER ALTERATIONS |
The 32-man roster has 20 forwards and 12 backs. A notable feature is the return of center Matías Garafulic. He was injured playing Super Rugby Americas 2024 for Selknam. He is Chile’s regular starting inside center and last played for Los Cóndores at the World Cup.
Fly half Rodrigo Fernández is also back in the mix. Fernández sat out the July Internationals which saw Tomás Salas starting against Hong Kong, Belgium and Scotland. Salas also started the Rugby World Cup 2027 Qualifier against Brazil while Juan Cruz Reyes debuted against Paraguay.
World Cup starting fullback Iñaki Ayarza has also not yet played for Chile in 2024. He is on the roster for the first-time since the World Cup in France.
There are also uncapped names on the roster. Selknam front-rowers Norman Aguayo and Baltazar Gurruchaga and flanker Andrés Kuzmanic may debut on the tour. Also called-up is Emilio Shea. The uncapped forward was born and raised in Santiago. He has spent time abroad and played in the USA for CAL Golden Bears Rugby.
