San Diego signs Mexico prop Alejandro Pradillo

The San Diego Legion have announced the historic signing of Mexican prop Alejandro Pradillo for the 2025 season. In doing so the 32-year-old known as ‘Bola’ becomes the first senior international from his nation to sign on with a Major League Rugby side.

Pradillo has represented Las Serpientes for more than a decade, notably appearing as a teenager at the Hong Kong Sevens in 2011. His home club is called the Wallabies, but he has recently spent time with Rhino Rugby Academy in San Clemente and the Kahurangi club in New Zealand.

More frequently used as a looosehead prop, the 260lbs (118kg) specimen is also comfortable on the tighthead side. Pradillo has a unique professional background having previously worked as a chemistry teacher at Greengates international school in Mexico City.

San Diego scrum coach Alex Corbisiero released a statement on social media:

“We are very excited to have Alejandro join us here at the San Diego Legion. He has a huge passion for improvement and a love of the scrum, which is a non-negotiable for a prop here at the Legion. We look forward to giving him his first fully professional environment and helping him maximize his potential on the field.”
