Former All Blacks hooker Liam Coltman joins Utah Warriors

Utah have announced the signing of former All Blacks hooker Liam Coltman ahead of the 2025 Major League Rugby season. The 34-year-old joins the Warriors direct from New Zealand provincial outfit Otago, having spent the past two years in the French Top 14 with Lyon.

Coltman represented the victorious New Zealand side at the 2010 Junior World Championship, making his senior provincial debut that same year. A first test appearance came against Italy in 2016, with the last of his 8 caps coming against Wales in the Bronze Final of the 2019 World Cup.

A vastly experienced professional, Coltman boasts more than a hundred Super Rugby appearances with the Highlanders between 2012 and 2022. He is a direct replacement for countryman Nic Souchon, who was one of 17 departures recently confirmed by the Warriors.

Meanwhile the club have made five other additions for the new campaign. College Draft picks Tielu Sagala and Cole Semu have formally signed on, along with three local club standouts. Heavyweight prop Tesimale Niupulusu is joined by loose forwards Papa Matelau and Mason Barker. Both are formerly USA u18 selects with the latter the younger brother of Warriors prop Zak Barker.
