Álvaro Galindo to coach Tarucas in Super Rugby America 2025

Álvaro Galindo will coach Los Tarucas in Super Rugby America 2025. The appointment means the Tucumán / NOA Super Rugby Americas franchise will by coached by a hometown man. Galindo is from Tucumán and is a rugby product of Universitario Tucumán.

Galindo is a former professional rugby player. He played in France for Béziers and Racing 92 in the Pro D2 and Top 14. He is also a former Puma, earning 13 caps. He debuted against Uruguay in 2004 and earned his final cap in the 2012 Rugby Championship.

Los Tarucas will be one of three Argentine teams in Super Rugby Americas 2025. The expansion side join Los Pampas (Buenos Aires) and Los Dogos (Córdoba). Los Dogos are the reigning champions. Captain Franco Molina now plays for Exeter Chiefs and fellow second-rower Efraín Elías now plays for Toulouse.

The move from player to coach has ben successful for Galindo. He coached Los Pumitas to multiple wins over hosts South Africa at the World Rugby Junior Championship. Efraín Elías was his captain.

Nicolás Fernández Miranda will replace Galindo as the head coach of Argentina u20s. The former Pumas Fernández Miranda is a former assistant coach of Los Jaguares and Los Pumas.He also coached his former club Hindú in Buenos Aires.
