Puerto Rico Come Out on Top Against British Virgin Islands

The battle of the Islands was won by Puerto Rico. Played on Saturday at the Polideportivo Rebekah Colberg in the capital city of San Juan, Puerto Rico came out on top against the British Virgin Islands (BVI). Puerto Rico were 51-27 winners in a test match.

Neither Puerto Rico nor BVI is involved in the 2024 Senior Men’s Rugby Americas North (RAN) XVs tournament. Increased international competition is welcomed. The BVI played the likes of the Dominican Republic and Turks & Caicos Islands in recent World Cup cycles.

Puerto Rico is a Caribbean island and unincorporated U.S. territory while the BVI is a British overseas territory. The BVI is an associate member of World Rugby and a full member of Rugby Americas North (RAN Rugby). Puerto Rico is not a full member nor an associate member of either.
