Brazil’s Women’s Test Team will tour the Netherlands in November. As Yaras will play two end-of-year test matches against the European country. The matches will take place on November 29 and December 05.
The tour means both As Yaras and Os Tupis have end-of-year tours. Brazil’s National Men’s team will play two test matches against Hong Kong in November. It will follow Brazil’s upcoming Men’s Rugby World Cup Qualifier against Los Cóndores in Chile.
As Yaras’ two match tour of the Netherlands is to be the first European tour for Brazil’s National Women’s team since 2008. The 2008 tour was also Brazil’s first official test match in Women’s Rugby. As Yaras were beaten 10-0 on that occasion by the Netherlands.
A lot has changed since 2008. Brazil will debut at the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2025. The Netherlands are looking to qualify for their first Women’s Rugby World Cup in over two decades. The Netherlands played in the 1991, 1998 and 2002 Women’s Rugby World Cups.
After a hiatus, Brazil’s Women’s team resumed international competition in 2019. Since that time As Yaras have completed wins over Portugal and Colombia. The tour of the Netherlands will provide greatly needed preparation before the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in England.
Brazil is ranked 40th in the world while the Netherlands is 16th. The Netherlands is chasing one of the two remaining spots at the Women’s Rugby World Cup. The slots will be determined in October with the Netherlands joining Hong Kong, Madagascar, Samoa and Spain in repechage.
