Colombia will play host to Rugby World Cup Qualifies in September. Matches will take place on September 25 and 29 at the Estadio Cincuentenario in Medellín. The first match day will see Colombia v Costa Rica as well as Venezuela vs Peru. The second match day will se the winners from the opening day go head-to-head in one fixture and the losers battling it out in the other.
The teams are contesting the bottom tier of Sudamerica Rugby. The competition will be played at the same time as the ongoing triangular series between Brazil, Chile and Paraguay. It started with Brazil beating Paraguay by a record margin. Chile host Paraguay in Santiago on September 28 and Brazil on October 05.
Chile are seeking to qualify for back-to-back Rugby World Cups and a second overall. Los Cóndores had their moments in their campaign in France against Japan, Samoa, England and Argentina. This was under a 20-team format. Australia 2027 will consist of 24 teams.
The top two sides from the triangular series will advance to the Sudamericano 2025. That is to say, two of Brazil, Chile and Paraguay will join Uruguay in the final round. The bottom side, presently Paraguay, will face the winner of the tournament in Medellín on Saturday, October 12.
The winner of the October 12 fixture will continue on in South American World Cup Qualifiers. That team will claim the fourth and final place in the Sudamericano 2025.
