Further Scrum-Half Change to Pumas Roster

A further alteration has come to Los Pumas roster. With Argentina preparing to face Australia in Santa Fé, the recalled Tomás Cubelli has now been ruled out with a muscle strain. He had been added on Sunday but has now been replaced.

Tomás Cubelli joined the roster in place of Lautaro Bazán Vélez. The change came after Bazán Vélez was forced out of the Rugby Championship match in La Plata. The scrum-half from Córdoba was replaced by Gonzalo García as Argentina’s replacement to Gonzalo Bertranou.

Cubelli’s call-up was a minor surprise. He is the most capped Argentine scrum-half in history with 93 caps; however, he is 35-years-old. The Argentina XV roster includes Agustín Moyano, Ignacio Inchauspe, and Eliseo Morales. The trio all played in Super Rugby Americas 2024.

Of the three men Morales played the least amount of rugby. Moreover, Moyano was the stand-out scrum-half in the league. The 21-year-old Moyano is a Puma in waiting. Felipe Contepomi has replaced Cubelli with Morales. The 26-year-old from Salta has one test cap; he debuted against Wales in 2022.
