González and Moneta Help Bordeaux to Sevens Double

Bordeaux completed back-to-back tournaments wins in France’s Supersevens series. Argentines Luciano González and Marcos Moneta were in the thick of the action for the victorious side in La Rochelle. Bordeaux were 19-12 winners over Monaco in the final.

Bordeaux began the day by taking-on Toulouse. After a slow start in the first half, Bordeaux put on a second half exhibition en route to a 33-7 victory. The team did even better in the Quarter Finals against Castres; Bordeaux were 22-0 winners.

In the Semi Finals, Bordeaux took-on Stade Français. It was a rematch from the pool stage from the Mont de Marsan tournament. Bordeaux overturned a 7-0 deficit to win the contest 28-7. Uncapped Argentine Juan Martín Scelzo featured for the Parisians. Meanwhile, Monaco overcame Pau 33-7. The tightly fought final was won 19-12 by Bordeaux.

The final featured notable names of Los Pumas 7’s on both teams. Agustín Fraga, Fernando Luna and Gastón Revol played for Monaco against González and Moneta’s Bordeaux.

The Supersevens started in Mont de Marsan. The second tournament was in La Rochelle this weekend while Pau will host next on August 31. The fourth, and final tournament, will be at La Defense Arena, the home of Racing 92, on February 01, 2025.
