Brazil Name Roster for Rugby World Cup 2027 Qualifiers

Brazil will play host to Paraguay in São Paulo on August 18. Head Coach Emiliano Caffera has confirmed a 36-man roster for the Rugby World Cup 2027 Qualifier. The test match will be played at the Estádio Nicolau Alayon.

Brazil and Paraguay both prepared for the Rugby World Cup 2027 qualifier with home matches in July. Os Tupis were winners over Belgium and very unfortunate not to beat Hong Kong. Paraguay were comfortably beaten by the same two teams. Hong Kong was dominant while Paraguay showed improvement against Belgium.

Caffera’s roster for Paraguay is dominated by Super Rugby Americas players. 30 of the 36 players selected played for Os Cobras in the 2024 season. One of them is Carlo Mignot who qualifies for Brazil via eligibility laws and debuted in July.

The roster contains four players based abroad. Wilton Rebolo played the recently completed Major League Rugby (MLR) 2024 for Los Angeles. He did so after previously playing Super Rugby Pacific for the Western Force. Fellow front-rower Leonel Moreno plays for Lazio in Italy while Moisés Duque and Matheus Rocha play their rugby in Portugal.
