Costa Rica Prepare for RWC Qualifiers with Big Win over Nicaragua

Costa Rica notched up an impressive win over Nicaragua. Played at the Cancha Barrio Moracia in Liberia, Costa Rica, the 74-5 victory gives Los Ticos a solid platform to build upon for the upcoming Rugby World Cup 2027 qualifiers.

Rafael Atmetlla and Carlo Trejos both scored hat-tricks for Los Ticos. Braulio Murillo, Marlon Cerdas, Jorge Abrego, Yelson Zúñiga and Armando Pimiento were also try scorers.

Costa Rica are to be the one Central American country involved in Sudamérica Rugby’s regional qualifiers. One of Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru and Venezuela will advance from the Bronze Round. That team will join the bottom placed side of Brazil, Chile and Paraguay in what will be the Silver Round.

The winner of that will join Uruguay and two other Sudamérica Rugby teams in the final round in 2025.
