Gonzalo Quesada’s Italy knock Over Japan

Italy’s July tour has concluded. Gonzalo Quesada’s team ended with a convincing 42-14 win over Eddie Jones’ Japan. It follows a comfortable win over Tonga in Nuku’alofa and a narrow loss against Samoa in Apia. The return is positive for Quesada’s Italy who also defeated Scotland and Wales in the 2024 Six Nations.

Italy’s win in Japan was emphatic. The European side had the better of play and went effortlessly about their work. Ange Capuozzo, Martin Page Relo, Andrea Zambonin, Alessandro Garbisi and Ross Vintcent all scored tries. Japan’s two tries were both scored by Dylan Riley.

Italy now have a short break before taking on Canada and the USA. Canada host Japan in Vancouver on August 25 while Japan will play host to the USA Eagles in Kumagaya on September 07. The matches are for the Pacific Nations Cup which also includes Fiji, Samoa and Tonga in a separate Tri Nations bracket.

Italy next play in November. Former Puma Gonzalo Quesada will coach Italy against his own country; Italy face Argentina in Udine on November 09. Italy subsequently face Georgia and New Zealand.
