USA Men’s Roster for 2024 Paris Olympic Games

The USA Men’s Roster has been finalized of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The team at looking to do what the USA did 100 years ago at the 1924 Olympics: win Gold Medals in Rugby. The 2024 USA team will be captained by Kevon Williams. He is the leader of a 12-man roster named by Head Coach Mike Friday.

The USA won Gold at the 1924 Paris Olympic Games. After a very long period of absence, Rugby returned but as Rugby Sevens. It returned for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The USA finished ninth at that tournament and sixth at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics which were actually held in 2021.

The roster for Paris 2024 features two men who also competed in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo. Perry Baker and Madison Hughes are to compete at their third Olympic Games. 2016 Olympian Maka Unufe missed Tokyo but is back for his second. Kevon Williams, Matai Leuta and Stephen Tomasin featured in Tokyo and are both on the roster for Paris 2024.

Roster members Naima Fuala’au and Malacchi Esdale, Aaron Cummings, Orrin Bizer, Marcus Tupuola, and Lucas Lacamp are to be Olympian debutants, though Fuala’au and Esdal were traveling replacements for Tokyo. Pita Vi and Adam Channel will travel with the roster as replacements.

Lacamp was born in Hong Kong and qualifies for the USA via residency. After moving to the USA he went on to play for the USA High School All-Americans. He subsequently played college rugby for UCLA. He debuted for the USA Eagles in 2021.

Two names missing from the roster are Maceo Brown and Joe Schroeder. Both men featured at the Tokyo Olympics. Brown retired following a knee injury that he suffered while competing at the Singapore 7’s. Schroeder pulled-out. He also suffered a knee injury while playing for the USA at the Singapore 7’s tournament.
