Tomás Dussaillant Calls it a Day on his Professional Career

Tomás Dussaillant has called it a day on his professional career. The Chilean hooker’s final match was today, Saturday, in Santiago del Chile for Selknam against the American Raptors. It was a great way to go out for Dussaillaint; Selknam won 24-19 and he was a try-scorer.

Dussaillaint steps away from the professional game after having made 27 appearances for Selknam. He had the honor of representing his country on the grandest stage of them all. Dussaillaint helped Chile qualify for the World Cup for the first time and he played at the tournament, scoring a try against Argentina in Nantes.

While it remains to be seen whether or not he will play for Chile this coming July, his professional retirement call comes with 40 test caps for his name. The pair were joined by Augusto Böhme as Chile’s World Cup hookers. Böhme plays his rugby abroad for NOLA Gold in Major League Rugby (MLR).

Selknam will have new-look hookers in Super Rugby Americas 2025. In addition to Dussaillaint’s decision to retire, Diego Escobar is moving to France. He will play in the Top 14 for Racing 92.
