NOTES
  • Chicago have been boosted by the return of skipper Billy Meakes after two games away on paternity leave… Bryce Campbell shifts to outside center with Mark O’Keeffe on the bench
  • it’s an all-South American reserve front row for the Hounds… Uruguayan pair Guillermo Pujadas and Ignacio Peculo are joined by former Argentina XV loosehead prop Nicolas Revol… the latter spent last season with Dallas and played the season opener for the Jackals before being hit with injury… he will now spend the rest of the season with Chicago
  • Sid Shoop gets his first match day selection of the 2024 campaign… he made 7 appearances for Chicago last season including 5 starts at scrumhalf
  • Julián Domínguez and Michael Baska are both formerly of the Gold… Domínguez spent the 2020 and 2021 campaigns in New Orleans… Baska was there in 2018 and 2019
  • NOLA have lost star forward Jonah Mau’u to a knee injury… Malcolm May shifts to the flank with Callum Botchar given the start at lock
  • Reece Botha gets his third start in the No10 shirt for the Gold… both Rodney Iona and Dorian Jones are absent from the match day squad for a second straight week
  • JP du Plessis is back in the Gold lineup after a three-game absence… it’s the first time he has teamed up with Jordan Jackson-Hope in the midfield since Week 4 against Dallas
PREDICTION

Rain is on the forecast which could benefit the Hounds given they have the bigger pack. The Gold will miss Mau’u on both sides of the ball, but their halfbacks are both strong tactical kickers. For NOLA to succeed they’ll have to be accurate at the lineout. Chicago are slight favorites at home.
