Mateo Soler Sets New Super Rugby Americas Record for Most Tries

Mateo Soler has set a new record for most tries scored in Super Rugby Americas (SRA). The 21-year-old Dogos fullback overtook former Puma Sebastián Cancelliere’s record of 14 tries to now be the top scorer. Solar has six tries thus far this season.

Soler’s try against Selknam on Saturday took his total number of Super Rugby Americas tries to 15. Cancelliere’s 14 tries are equal to that of Peñarol N8 Manuel Diana. Former Peñarol captain scored 13 for the club while Tomás Cubilla, who is also now playing Major League Rugby, also scored 13 SRA tries.

The first-half score was Soler’s 6th of the SRA 2024 season. Pampas center Justo Piccardo also has scored 6 tries thus far this season. They are tied for third best behind Dogos hooker Tomás Bartolini who has scored 8 tries and Pampas winger Santiago Pernas who has 9 tries to his name.

This could change during the final round and in the SRA 2024 play-off’s. The two Argentine sides will have home advantage in the Semi Finals. Los Dogos play host to Peñarol this coming Saturday in Córdoba while Los Pampas host Os Cobras in Buenos Aires.
