Uruguay Crowned Sevens Challenger Champions in Munich

An undefeated tournament from Los Teros 7’s saw the Uruguayan crowned champions of the World Rugby Sevens Challenger tournament in Munich, Germany. Uruguay’s solid series of performances in Munich also saw them sealing the overall series title.

Uruguay now have the opportunity of earning promotion to the World Rugby 2025 Sevens circuit. So to do Kenya, Chile and Germany. The three teams joined Uruguay in the final four in Munich.

The tournament title in Munich follows Uruguay’s title won on home soil in Montevideo in March. It means that Uruguay finish in top spot of the Sevens Challenger Series with 56 competition points. Kenya, who were 5th in Munich, finished second overall behind Uruguay.

Uruguay sealed the title in Montevideo by beating Hong Kong. In Munich, Los Teros 7’s overcame hosts Germany, doing so by wining the final 21-19. Earlier on in the day Uruguay overcame South American rivals Chile in the Semi Final. Chile ultimately finished 4th after falling to Hong Kong.
