Tomás Albornoz Stars as Benetton Storm into European Challenge Semi Finals

Tomás Albornoz was Man of the Match for Benetton on Sunday. The Italian side stormed to a 39-14 win over Irish province Connacht. The match was a Quarter Final of the 2023-2024 European Challenge Cup. The result sets up a Semi Final against Gloucester.

Albornoz scored two tries in the win. Both were kick and chase scores. He also converted two tries to score a total of 14 points. He was joined by four other Argentines. Thomas Gallo played loose head prop, Juan Ignacio Brex was inside center, Ignacio Mendy played wing and Bautista Bernasconi was the replacement hooker.

Albornoz’s outstanding performance comes less than two days after another Puma delivered for his team. Santiago Carreras scored 18 points for Gloucester in their Quarter Final win on Friday. Carreras played the match at fullback. He is Argentina’s starting 10 with Albornoz being the official third choice, after Carreras and Nicolás Sánchez, in 2023.
