Francisco Gorrissen Takes Vannes to Peak of Pro D2

Puma Francisco Gorrissen lead Vannes to a comprehensive 42-10 win over Dax on Friday. The flanker scored a first half try and continued his excellent season. It comes on the back of having been named the best player in the league last season.

The race to win promotion from the Pro D2 to the Top 14 is on. Vannes are now the French second division leaders. With four rounds remaining in the regular season, Vannes lead with 78 points. Province and Béziers are tied for second with 76.

The club is looking for a prosperous future. It is preparing for potential promotion to the Top 14, this is evident both on and off the field. Vannes recently announced a significant stadium upgrade. The new modern facility will have a capacity of 10,000. This is the minimum requirement to compete in the Top 14.

Vannes, with Gorrissen as captain, reached the Semi Finals last season. The top six contest the play-off’s which begin with the barrage. This includes byes for the top two. The winner of the play-off’s earns promotion to the Top 14. The runner-up faces the 13th places Top 14 side in a promotion vs relegation match.
