Argentina to Open Contepomi era at the Foot of the Andes

Los Pumas will open the Felipe Contepomi coaching era at home on Saturday, July 06. As reported by Uno, the match is to be played at the Foot of the Andes at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza.

Argentina will play host to France in two test matches in July. The first will be in western Argentina with the second taking place seven days later on July 13. Buenos Aires is set to join Mendoza in securing a Pumas match against Les Bleus. The match is expected to be played at Velez Sarsfield stadium.

The traditional third July home test match will be against a Tier 2 side. The match is awaiting confirmation but it will be across the Rio de la Plata; Los Pumas are to take-on Uruguay in Montevideo on July 20.

Los Pumas will have three home matches during the 2024 Rugby Championship. All there are expected to be played in the mainland. Córdoba, Rosario, Salta, San Juan, Santa Fé and Santiago del Estero are possible examples.

Mendoza hosted Argentina vs New Zealand in 2023 and Australia in 2022. The stadium also played host to Pumas matches against South Africa in 2012, 2013 and 2018, and Australia in 2014, 2015 and 2017. Earlier matches include Argentina vs Italy in 2007, Chile in 1997 and 2002 matches against Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.
