Brazil vs Colombia in June; Winner Qualifies for the 2025 Women’s World Cup

For the first time in history, South America will have a direct spot at a Rugby World Cup. The 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup is guaranteed to have either Brazil or Colombia. The winner will make history; never before has either country appeared at a Men’s or Women’s Rugby World Cup.

Brazil vs Colombia will take place in the neutral location of Paraguay. The one-off fixture will be played on June 29. As Yaras or Las Tucanes will be one of sixteen competitors at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup.

North America will be represented by at least one competitor; Canada qualified directly by reaching the Semi Finals of the previous edition of the Women’s Rugby World Cup. The USA also competed at the 2022 tournament in New Zealand. The Women’s Eagles are prior World Champions; the USA won the inaugural Women’s World Cup in 1991.

The 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup will take place in England. Participation from Brazil or colombia will mean a record three Americas competitors at a Women’s Rugby World Cup.

Colombia is undefeated against Brazil in prior Women’s capped test matches. Las Tucanes won 30-19 and 24-23 in 2023. The inaugural fixture was an 18-15 away Colombian triumph in 2022.
