Selknam do enough against Cobras in game of Two-Halves

Selknam claimed their first win of Super Rugby Americas 2024 on season. The Chilean franchise did enough to overcame Os Cobras in what was a game of two halves. Selknam were 24-3 up well before half-time in a contest they won by 30-20.

• Selknam and Os Cobras form the backbone of the test teams of Chile and Brazil. They will compete later this year in Rugby World Cup Qualifiers with teams dominated by Super Rugby Americas players.
• The match was the seventh meeting between the teams in Super Rugby Americas. Selknam now have a 5-2 winning record against Os Cobras.
• The teams scored three tries each though they were split with Selknam’s tries all coming in the first-half and Os Cobras’ three tries being scored in the second.
• Selknam were also strong in the first half one week earlier against Yacare where they also fell-off in the second-half.
• All three Selknam tries were from forwards who played for Chile at Rugby World Cup 2023.
• Uncapped center Martín Dumay was impressive for Selknam.
• Concerns for Os Cobras’ leading player this season; Endy Willian Pinheiro was forced off after attempting to tackle Clemente Saavedra with his head on the wrong side.
• Selknam have home advantage next weekend against Peñarol. Os Cobras play away for the first time in 2024. The Brazilian side will face Yacare in Asunción, Paraguay.
